The bronze used to cast the class crest and the memorial plaque is Everdur 95-4-1 bronze, which is 95% copper, 4% silicon, 1% manganese. It melts at 1,790 degrees F, and it is poured into the casting mold at 2,050 degrees F.

It can be mounted indoors or outdoors. It will eventually take on a light brownish-green color (faster if outdoors), similar to most outdoor bronze sculptures (like Patton's statue at West Point). Indoors or outdoors, the bronze can be polished every 6-8 months with brasso to maintain the original polished golden color.
